Lainie Cooper. TEACHER: Sculpture and Tesol.
Bachelor of Visual Arts Fine Art, Bachelor of Education, Master of Education. Graduate Certificate TESOL.

Originally from Sydney Lainie moved to the Gold Coast with her family in 1982. She is the mother of four grown sons and grandmother to three girls and one boy.
Lainie is very patient and enjoys teaching both children and adults the skills she has learned and makes learning fun by incorporating art, imagination and creativity into her lessons. She also enjoys learning from her students about their own country and their culture and Lainie is always taking workshops and lessons to improve her own skills.

High School Teaching: Retired from full time teaching High School Art and English in January 2011 at Pacific Pines State High School, Lainie has also taught at other schools on the Gold Coast, including Helensvale SHS and Trinity Lutheran College.

Tutor ESL: Korean and Japanese students in ESL privately and also worked with Bob White of Shake Hands with Oz on a new ESL program designed for teaching English, using IPads, to teach TSOL students all over Australia..
Lainie’s thesis for her Masters in Education was on understanding the problems Japanese students face in understanding the differences in the Queensland curriculum.

Lainie was also  a sculpture tutor with the Gold Coast Sculptors Society at Benowa for many years, teaching adult students in ceramics, clay modeling and art workshops. She really enjoyed teaching adults and has made many friends from these classes. This is a fun way to relax and enjoy a great hobby, although many of Lainie’s students have gone on to be professional artists.

Artist in Residencies: have included the Aboriginal Commemorative Ceramic Wall and ANZAC Mosaic Memorial Wall at Pacific Pines SHS in 2011.Numinbah Environmental Camp for Gifted and Talented, Asia Pacific Triennial and numerous other workshops and tutorials

ART Exchanges

Japan: Lainie is a well-known artist in the community and in 2002 participated in an Art Exchange organized by Bob White, of Shake Hands, with Oz to Fukuoka Japan. Here she home stayed with another Japanese Artist and teacher and had the opportunity to experience the Japanese lifestyle first hand and also teaches in a Japanese school. She has visited Japan twice since then as the beauty of the countryside, the culture, history and especially the art, ancient and modern, fascinates her.

Korea: In 2007 Lainie organized an Art Exchange to Korea where again she was able to home stay, experience the Korean culture and life style and also to lecture in a Korean High School.
In September 2011 Lainie organized an art exchange between Australia and Korea, founded the Australian Creative Exchange Inc. and will again visit Japan and Korea in 2012.

- August/September 2013 - President- ACE Australia"Meeting Place" The Asian Century.Artists from China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and Taiwl joined with ACE Australian artists for an exhibition at the Gold Coast Art Gallery, Bundall, Surfers Paradise. Lainie was president and chief organiser of these exhibitions.

 

"War and Peace 1".was held at the Gold Coast Ciy Galleryin April/May 2015. As president of the Australian Creative Excahnge.Inc Lainie organised this exhibition and exchange with artists from Hacettpe University,Ankara. Artists from Turkey, New Zealand and Australia came together to mark the 100th Anniversery of the landing at Gallioli."War and peace 11" wil be held in Ankar,Turkeyin May 2016.
